And then out of thin air appears the steam update :P damn, anyway I hope after this 3 hour download the launcher doesn't want me to download anything again ^^ But well I'm always drawing the worst case scenarios into my life, and this is just a first world issue. If you own Horizons log in and you will see the option for it there any idea why the launcher, started outside of steam, without the patch, had to sync files before being ready for the update? Why was this sync necessary? I don't get it. However ALL Elite users have just downloaded the (8gb) patch which contains horizons so you don't need to download anything from frontier to get it to work just launch the steam version manually outside of steam and you get the new horizons capable launcher.

it seems to detect steam is running and give players the old launcher with no Horizons access. Steam just blocks Horizons when you launch it that way. On the other hand I've just realized how I waste my sparse time for something like this. Now I've stopped it and started the download from steam. navigate here: c:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Elite Dangerous\Products\ 4. if you have Frontier store update downloading Horizons, stop it now and close the launcher 3. If you didn't buy the add-on before October 26, it's now locked off forever, but at least you'll get everything else without having to spend £20/$30.Ursprünglich geschrieben von wilb:I wonder, first there wasn't a steam update, so I started the launcher inĬ:\Program Files (x86)\Frontier\EDLaunch (advice from a moderator)Īfter 3 hours I realize it just had synced the files ^^ and while still in the launcher, it begins with the download. download elite dangerous update via Steam 2. This rather pretty cosmetic reward will be the only feature from Horizons that remains exclusive to players who owned the expansion before it was incorporated into the base game.

As a "huge thank you" to long-time Horizons players, they will receive an exclusive azure ship paint colour, compatible with all ships currently in the game. Elite Dangerous is the third sequel to 1984's genre-defining Elite, bringing gaming’s original open world adventure into the modern generation with a connected galaxy, evolving narrative and the entire Milky Way recreated at its full galactic proportions.

If you're one of upwards of a million players who parted with their cash for Horizons, Frontier is keen to ensure that you don't end up feeling aggrieved at the change. New purchases will include the expansion as part of the base game download. Horizons is no longer available to download separately (at the time of writing, its has disappeared from Steam, though you can still catch a glimpse of its ghost on Google), but Elite Dangerous players who don't own Horizons will receive it automatically as a free update.
